Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the VMI community at-large:
- Transportation information for cadets and rats for Thanksgiving Furlough can be found on the VMI online calendar event starting furlough at CMD Nov. 23. Cadets and rats should adhere to all official timelines in the furlough memo when planning their travel and return to post.
- The November 2024 Institute Report is now available to read online and download. Features in this issue include recaps of the annual leadership conference, Fall FTX, strategic plan rollout, a historic bronze medal for Army ROTC cadets, and more.

Congratulations to VMI's 2nd Class cadets who can now wear their class rings with pride following the exciting events of Ring Figure last week. The of the presentation of the rings is still available on the Ring Figure page and VMI's for anyone who may have missed it. Thank you to Lt. Gen. John D. The bracing air and tease of snow did not distinguish the blaze of excitement and exuberant mood for the Class of 2026 at ÂìÒϸ£Àûµ¼º½ Military Institute Nov. 21 and 22. It was during those two days that the class celebrated Ring Figure, one of the most anticipated events for cadets.

Maj. Christopher N. Shingledecker, assistant professor of chemistry at ÂìÒϸ£Àûµ¼º½ Military Institute, is a member of a research team responsible for discovering three new molecules in space.
Female Combat Pilot Serves as VMI Leader-in-Residence
Amber Smith, former U.S. Army Kiowa helicopter pilot, and author of two books, was named VMI's Leader in Residence, which is an important part of the Center for Leadership and Ethics’ efforts to educate, engage, and inspire cadets, faculty, and staff to develop as leaders.
